How Credit Affects the Life of a Graduate

November 13, 2018 by Jonny Pean Leave a Comment

It’s a fact that all opportunities of achieving fresh mortgage, car loans, and credit cards are affected by your credit. However, lenders aren’t the only group that runs a check on the credit history of a student. There are a few other parties that check out your credit-worthiness before approving your loan application.

Check out a list of others that run through your credit profile before issuing credit:

• Vehicle Insurance: You’re likely to prove yourself as a better driver when your credit history reflects an improved score. This is quite a popular belief as per the insurance companies. A majority of auto insurance companies utilize credit data for creating the policy terms and insurance rates. The premium rates are bound to fall once you acquire an improved credit rating. That’s one good reason for you to maintain a bright record free from blemishes.

• Prospective Employers: While applying for a job, your credit report may be reviewed by prospective employers after taking your consent. Employers need to be sure that you’re capable of handling all financial obligations quite efficiently. All financial discrepancies and negative elements showing up in your credit records are checked out by these employers. A copy of your credit report and a notification has to be provided to you before the employer initiates any adverse action after checking your personal information.

• Landlords: A copy of your credit report gets pulled by the rental agencies and landlords as you undergo a review process. Chances are fairly high that you’ll be responsible towards meeting your rental payments and protecting an apartment when you’re responsible towards repaying the various forms of credit. The name of employer mentioned in your rental application has to match the one listed with your credit report. They will always check these things out and figure out all highlighted negative records. For those of you that are experiencing credit problems, you might need to bear a higher rent, a higher down payment or your request for tenancy may be rejected.

• Utility Services: Your utility bills may even be affected by your credit score. In an attempt to determine the rates, most utility service providers like that of your cable and electricity can run a credit check after seeking your permission. You may choose to pick a co-signer, pull up higher rates, or shed a deposit when you have credit problems.

• Smart-Phone Providers: Your smart-phone bill can even be impacted by the credit. Prior to issuing a service contract, the cell phone companies are bound to run a credit check. You may either need to shed out a huge amount as down payment or pay extra for a service plan when you got banged up credit. The customer credits may even be checked out by some of the smart phone companies.
